Jim Lyons Crusade for Revival

The late Dr. Jim Lyons spent 40+ years traveling the world telling the Gospel story. Thousands came to know Christ through his fruitful ministry. His peers knew him as a consistent soul winner.

• A native of Texas, Dr. Lyons resigned from a position as Division Buyer for the Kraft Food Company to enter the ministry. He then served as Associate Pastor at Miller Road Baptist Church in Garland, Texas, which was called the "fastest growing church in Texas".

• He was Associate Pastor at the First Baptist Church, Hammond, Indiana, for five years. During his time at First Baptist, the church grew rapidly and became Indiana's largest Sunday School.

• Dr. Lyons entered the evangelistic field in 1965, and he conducted hundreds of meetings in 38 states, traveling as far east as the West Indies and as far west as Hawaii.

• He served on the Board of Directors of the Christian Legal Defense and Education Foundation.

• In May of 1972, he was honored with the Doctor of Divinity Degree from Memphis Baptist College.

• He also served as Staff Evangelist of Lavon Drive Baptist Church, Garland, Texas.

God gave him a burden to share the gospel using tracts, which he published himself. He founded Tracts by Lyons in 1980. Millions have been printed and distributed with the help of faithful donors and supporters.
